My Little Monkey

Jacob climbed onto the couch in the gameroom today. He was quite proud of himself, to say the least. First, he used Beth's desk chair as a step stool over the arm of the chair. When Mean Mommy moved it away, he whined. He tried so hard, hiking his leg up onto the seat of the couch, pulling, grabbing on with his toes, until he finally got it. Guess what that means for me? Furniture rearrange. Why? This is our gameroom (before we moved in)

See the half walls? Those are on both sides of the gameroom, including where we have a chair and a couch. If you look over those half walls, you see all the way downstairs to the tile floor. I can just see Jacob climbing up and over when I'm not looking.

Now all the couches and chair are angled around the big screen (way too close for my taste. Honestly, they were too close for me before the rearrange). Granted, I'm the only one who actually sits on the furniture to watch tv. Kevin and Beth both lay on this little couch. Beth has enough room still, but I'm not sure Kevin can fit now :)

When you walk into the gameroom, you'll run into a couch if you don't follow the path.

However, that path leads to all the kiddo toys. I LOVE that area for the kids!

So, I rearranged the furniture. I don't really like it. BUT, I can certainly live with it for the safety of my kiddo. The things mommas do for their kiddos!

One of the things I want to accomplish before the end of the year is list some things on ebay. Last night, I decided to at least get the pictures of the items. Hopefully today, I'll get them listed. Anyway, looking in that box in the closet, I hit the jackpot. I seriously had forgotten what was in there, but it's been in there for at least 2 years, maybe longer. I found things I can actually USE now!!!!! I don't remember where I got these things- my great-aunt, I think, who was moving.
All of my downstairs in going to be decorated in reds and browns. The guest room upstairs is going to be the most antique-y looking room, not entirely sure of the colors yet, but I have some ideas. So, in that box were a couple OLD books, then I remembered another I had on the bookshelf. Won't these be neat somewhere together?!

Also in the box was this red box. I don't know what it's original purpose was, but I thought I might be able to sell it. I needed to research a little. Regardless, now it will work with my decorations!

Better than that, I found treasures in the box! Costume jewelry from the 50s and 60s! When I put them in the box to sell, they weren't my style, but I knew I could sell them. Now, I like to periodically "dress up" with a fancier necklace than usual. Woohoo!!!

I heart glue guns

So, one of my favorite blogs, The Nesting Place, had a "party" for window mistreatments. I'm a lot late to the party, but I made it. My window mistreatment has been done for a couple weeks, I just haven't had time to blog about it. Today, I'm making time.





I've been thinking about curtains and window treatments, not sure what to do, how to do it, how much I'm willing to spend, etc. When I saw the idea for "mistreatments", I knew I'd found the right thing. Boy, have I gotten some ideas, too! The entire downstairs in reds and browns color scheme. In the old house, I had a full bath down with a shower curtain I loved. I hated getting rid of it, but I didn't need it in the new house. So, I dug it out of the garage sale box, ironed it (oh my!), bought some fabulous fringe at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon, and heated up my glue gun. Yep, that's right, no sewing at all (though I do have some skills), all hot glued. Woohoo! I hot glued the fringe on. I hot glued the sides to fit the space of the window (since cutting would require sewing, and I didn't want to do that). The only window it would really fit on was the one over the tub in the master. I think it's perfect, too, for the more contemporary design, that goes with our more contemporary bedding. Ok, so then I stuck it to the wall with upholstery tacks (I drew a line using a level, so I knew just where to put them). I pinned the fold, hot glued it there, pinned another fold, hot glued some more. I hot glued until I was happy with where everything was. I heart my glue gun! I still think it needs something at the top. So, if you have any suggestions, I'll take them. Ok, here it is.
