Entertainment

Beth is a hoot!
1) Beth is eating mini goldfish crackers. She shared some with me then told me, "You don't want to get a tummy ache. That's your last one. Deal or no deal?"

Ok, so she's a hoot, and she's amazing!
2) She came out of her room this morning with the book Green Eggs and Ham telling me she could read it. As we settled into her bed, she told me, "I'm gonna do a good job". She read, yes, actually read, her little finger following along the words, using the picture clues, and read the words. About halfway through, she got tired of that book and told me she could read another one. I got 3 choices, the stinker, so I picked Five Little Monkeys. Yes, it's the song, but the beginning of the story has some other parts to it. Again, she read it, sounding out words and using picture clues. I'm so proud!

Fresh Breath

Last night, Jacob came crawling into the computer room after playing in the playroom. When I picked him up, I could smell something sweet. A little while later, I saw something red in his mouth. His breath smelled sweet, and I wiped off some of the red. Guess what he's found and eaten? A stick of Beth's chapstick. Yum!

In other news, I got a haircut. Hooray! My first one since before Christmas. I figure I lost a couple pounds of hair with the 4 inches she cut off. I feel normal again, not quite like the frumpy mom.

We're off to have a picnic at the playground and go swimming at the neighborhood pool. Whatever we can to cool off from the 101* heat with NO rain in sight.

What's new with the kiddos

I'll get to updating pictures so, I promise. But, until then, here's the latest kiddo adventures.

Beth
We had the Aumillers over Saturday night. While the grownups played Mexican Dominoes, the girls played upstairs (Jacob was sleeping). So, Sunday, Beth really wanted to learn to play dominoes. Of course, we obliged. It was so much fun, and she's pretty good. She even played by herself this morning, until she had to put her train (penny) up, then she gave up.

There's nothing like drama of a 4 year old girl. Yesterday, when it was time for nap, she fussed that she didn't want a nap in her bed, threw her socks and shoes down then threw herself onto her bed, screaming and crying the entire time. I closed the door and walked away for a few minutes. When I returned to tell her no more screaming, she asked "Can I cry regular?" I wanted to laugh, but I told her she could as long as she didn't wake up Jacob. She was asleep a few minutes later.

Jacob
Jacob's on the verge of walking. Yikes! He took 2 steps this past weekend. So far, that's all he'll do before he sits or reaches where he's headed. Frankly, we think he won't be still long enough to balance and try walking. He's in constant motion and can crawl faster to get there. That's ok with me, really!

Jacob loves his pacis. He's started sharing his pacis with me, trying to put them in my mouth. This started when I put the handle in my mouth to play with him. He thinks it's just hilarious. I keep bunches of them in his crib. He has to have one in his mouth and one in his hand while he sleeps (just like Beth did). He just woke up from his nap with one in his mouth and 3 in his hands.

Jacob at 10 months hoarding his pacis

Beth at 7 months with hers

Okie dokie, now that Jacob's awake, I guess I should pay attention to the kiddos. Have a great day!

Here we go

Like I need something else to keep up with! Oh well, maybe now I can keep family and friends and blog-stalkers up to date (or try) with the latest in our lives. I'm Laura, 31 year old, stay at home mom to Jacob (10 months) and Beth (4 years). I'm married to Kevin, who works very hard providing a good life for us. We're 3-5 hours away from family but have made many great friends up here. Where is here? A small town south of Fort Worth, Texas. Close enough to enjoy what a big city can offer and far enough away to not deal with big city hassles. So, welcome to the blog where I share all the great adventures of our lives. No, we don't have amazing travels or cultural experiences, but we are highly entertained on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy!
